App Privacy

In short

OtterSlide plays fully offline and without an account — your best score and settings stay on your device, and nothing is sent to us. An account is optional and only exists so you can appear on the leaderboard and add friends. If you create one, that part of your data lives in our database.

Playing without an account

No sign-up, no name, no email. Your best score and your settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us. The leaderboard still shows you where you would rank, which is worked out from the score your device sends for that one request without storing it.

If you create an account

There are two kinds. A guest account asks only for a display name — no email, no password. A full account additionally uses your email address and a password, which is what makes it recoverable and usable on another device. A guest account can be upgraded to a full one later, keeping its name and rank.

Either way, we then store in our own database:

• Your display name
• Your email address — only for a full account, never for a guest account
• Your best score and the scores of individual runs
• Achievements you have unlocked
• Your friends and pending friend requests
• A private friend code others can use to add you
• Whether you have bought the ad-free upgrade

Your account is a Balane account: it works across our games, so a friend you add in OtterSlide is also your friend in another Balane game. Password recovery emails are sent through Brevo (see below).

What other players can see

Your display name and your best score are public. They appear on the leaderboard, and they can be found by anyone searching for the beginning of a name in order to send a friend request. Your email address, your friend code and your list of friends are never visible to anyone else. Please pick a display name you are comfortable showing in public.

Where it is stored

In a Supabase database hosted in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Supabase Inc. is a US company, so we have a data processing agreement with them including the EU standard contractual clauses. Details: Supabase Privacy Policy.

Deleting it

There is a Delete account button in the app, on your profile. It removes your account and everything attached to it — name, email, scores, achievements, friendships — permanently and without asking us. Note that it deletes your whole Balane account, not just your OtterSlide data.

Advertising — Google AdMob

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure them, Google's SDK may process:

• Device and advertising identifiers (e.g. IDFA)
• Approximate location derived from your IP address
• Ad interaction and usage data
• Diagnostics (crash and performance data)

This data is processed by Google as a separate controller, and it is not connected to your OtterSlide account. Details and opt-out options: Google Privacy Policy · How Google uses data from ads.

No tracking

The app does not request tracking permission (no App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS) and does not use your advertising identifier to track you across apps. You only ever see non-personalized ads.

Purchases

“Remove Ads” is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive your payment details. The store receipt is checked against Apple or Google so the purchase can be attached to your account; if you are not signed in, ads are removed on that device alone and nothing is sent to us.

Emails we send

The only email the app can trigger is a password reset, and only if you ask for one. It is sent through Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Germany), which receives your email address for that purpose. We do not send newsletters or marketing email. Brevo Privacy Policy.

App Store privacy label

For transparency, this is what is declared in the App Store:

• Used to track you: none
• Data linked to you (only if you create an account): Email Address, Name, User ID, Gameplay Content, Purchase History, Other User Content (friends)
• Data not linked to you (advertising, free version only): Device ID, Advertising Data, Product Interaction, Coarse Location, Diagnostics

Everything in the second group is collected by us and used only to run the account, the leaderboard and friends — never for advertising or tracking. Everything in the third group comes from Google AdMob and disappears once ads are removed.

Children

OtterSlide is suitable for all ages. Accounts are optional, and a guest account needs nothing but a made-up name. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children beyond what is listed above, and any account can be deleted from inside the app at any time.
